Anthropocentric religion...Glad you mention animals. Anthropocentric religion is old, bad religion. For me compassion extends beyond humanity, generating a religious imperative to find sustainable ways to share this planet with wild animals and more humane ways to keep domesticated ones.Jim stearnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449677811690616608.post-11311260587470661902011-11-21T04:01:55.553+01:002011-11-21T04:01:55.553+01:00Yes, fellowship and mutual support is implied, tho...Yes, fellowship and mutual support is implied, though I won't go as far and say community and relationships are a primary purpose. Sometimes you come to a religious gathering despite the people there, and building a community with them is not something I'd want to do primarily but as a consequence of the purpose of being there.

Soal ethic could be placed in the living and thinking again area. Nothing I would wish to remove though a few things I would add; an ethic for 'Solar Living' or philosophy on the 'transience of life' (Cupitt, The Fountain - Solar Ethics) but I'm just being a tad pedantic for I think these 12 steps would make for a good discussion at one of our SOF gatherings. Incidentally this morning I re-read 'The Agenda for Faith' by Stephen Mitchell and prefer what you say on 'God'.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449677811690616608.post-82175856685079444382011-11-20T09:42:44.785+01:002011-11-20T09:42:44.785+01:00I guess that it's implied but I think that my ...I guess that it's implied but I think that my Unitarianism includes a belief that our religion is not just about a personal relationship with the divine (or whatever we choose to call that which you have called God) but about the relationships with the others in our communities. So community and relationships are both pivotal and a focus for much of what we do.Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05271769998586735852noreply@blogger.com
