Ziggy Changes

With yet even more sincere apologies to David Bowie and his creative mastery, here is my final batch showing, in the end, my own alienation really. If these seem personal, then in the end they are and ought to be faced. Leaders make a difference, and real people take the consequences. So the last one (which I was going to have from Ziggy Stardust) is actually Changes.

Oh, You Purple One!

Wake up that learned head!
Put on day clothes, leave the study,
Put another website on the computer.
She's made some dinner and coffee.
Look out your window what don't you see?
No crack in the sky and no hand reaching down from Thee.
All the nightmares made in here:
Innovate Church, marginalise queers.

What are you coming to?
No room for them, no fun for you.
You think about a Church to come,
After the books came once from the golden one:
Written in pain, written in awe,
By a puzzled man who questioned
What we were here for.
But a bureaucrat holds sway,
And it looks as though he's changed to stay.

Oh you purple one (oh you purple one),
Don't you know you're driving your
Members and curious insane?
Oh you purple one (oh you purple one),
Don't you know you're driving your
Members and curious insane?
Let us make it plain:
You gotta include, yes, the homosinterior.

Look at your laity:
See their minds part of common thought.
Don't kid yourself they belong to you;
They're ethical and know what ought.
This Church is a bitch
When we see its news,
Homosapiens will outgrow its use:
Become strangers on Sunday,
Given the time you are here to stay.

Oh you purple one (oh you purple one)
Don't you know you're driving your
Members and curious insane?
Oh you purple one (oh you purple ones)
Don't you know you're driving your
Members and curious insane?
Let us make it plain:
You gotta include, yes, the homosinterior.

Rowan Stardust

Rowan played at Church, planning good with Tom and Johnny:
The bishops from Mars. He'd played it one hand,
But then went reverse
When became Archbishop, when we were Rowan's band.

Rowan once wrote, screwed up eyebrows let down that beard!
A real author poet, he could lick 'em by thinking,
He could leave 'em to muse...
Came to that awful job, something turned, almost abuse.

So where was the thinking in his writing to break our balls?
The least good light to guide us,
So we bitched with his new fans and should we ignore his plans?

Rowan played for time, telling us that here's Christians;
Impatience is crass, follow the Naz:
It's God given as...
But wanted it extant, one outcome: Covenant!

Making cause with no mates, Rowan was not the right man:
Not a Church's messiah!
When the English sacked the man, it broke the Communion.

Oh yeah,
Oo ooo-oo,
Rowan played the Church.

Changes

I still don't know what I was hoping for,
With my time here running out:
A million dead-end streets;
And in this credal Church: thought it included me,
It seems the taste is not so sweet.
So I turned myself to face me,
As I come to catch a glimpse,
Of how these leaders ensure a faker,
In apostolic authority.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes
Not going to be their believer man.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes,
Just gonna have to be my self-made man.
Church may change them,
But I can't take Church.

See episcopals change their size,
So ruining the dream.
Ignore impermanence and
Liturgies floating past ears,
But beliefs enforced like shame.
And these members that you spit on,
As they try to hold their Church,
Are ignored by your consultations,
They're quite aware of what you're doing though.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes
Not going to be their believer man.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes,
Just gonna have to be my self-made man.
Church may change them,
But I can't take Church.

Strange machinations, fascinating they
Changing their outlook, the place they may make through.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes
Not going to be their believer man.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turning Church to strangeness),
Ch-ch-Changes,
Just gonna have to be my self-made man.
Church may change them,
But I can't take Church.
